The Australian government's spending on ICT increased by 50 per cent to $9 billion in the last financial year. Overall, the Commonwealth had averaged $6 billion in spending on ICT in recent years, while opening the public purse to a further $3 billion. This additional investment will lay the foundations for innovations in ICT spending, together with a closer scrutiny involving technologies-of-choice, industry engagement, and proactive service delivery reforms. The broader focus is to refine the roadmap for:

  • Digital government
  • Big data and analytics
  • Mobility
  • Cloud & virtualisation
  • Security & cyber-security
  • Smart cities
  • Future workspaces
  • Data centre integration
