ANZ appoints chief data officer

ANZ has confirmed the appointment of Emma Gray to the newly-created position of chief data officer.

Former Woolworths Limited chief loyalty and data officer, Emma Gray, is taking on the inaugural chief data officer role with ANZ and is reporting to group executive digital banking, Maile Carneige.

Carneige said: “Emma will play a crucial role in ANZ’s digital transformation.”

“How we strategically manage and use our data is fundamental to how we can deliver the best experiences for our customers and build a world class digital bank.”

Within the new role, Gray would focus on collaborative efforts within the industry and help bolster digital initiatives.

“Emma will lead the creation a business intelligence capability for the bank in collaboration with other teams across ANZ,” Carneige said.

“[They will] identify the biggest opportunities for us to make better decisions for the bank and our customers.”

Prior to her position with Woolworths, Gray was a partner at Bain & Company and worked across Australia, Europe and the United States for 15 years.
