The CIOs of lead Commonwealth agencies are sharing insights into the challenges of mobile service delivery at the Annual FST Government Australia conference being held Thursday 22nd September in Canberra

These CIOs and ICT heads represent the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), the Department of Immigration & Border Protection, Australian Bureau of Statistics, and the Department of Communications.

During a panel, these experts will track the future of mobile services, including the integration of online channels with mobile apps. The future of high-speed, fast-access broadband communications also comes up for discussion.

The outlook for mobile apps is shared by Ramez Katf, the ATO’s CIO and Randall Brugeaud, the CIO for the Department of Immigration & Border Protection. These heads are joined by the ABS’s general manager for statistical business transformation, Lane Masterton, and Dr Jason Ashurst, a lead for broadband implementation at the Department of Communications.

These front-line agencies will share their direct experiences around building the inventory of public-facing mobile apps and services. Moves are underway to accelerate investments in mobile channels, while supporting a highly-mobile workforce.

In other news, integrating IT legacy systems with emerging technologies is clarified by Austrac’s deputy chief innovation officer, Kamal Jogia. He is joined during a panel by APRA’s CIO, Doug Jenkins, the National Archives of Australia’s director-general, David Fricker, and program manager for the CSIRO, Lucy Boom.

This discussion offers candid insights into rejuvenating agency-wide integration for hardware, software, networks and infrastructure. The focus is to integrate legacy systems with mobile and online technologies.

The FST Government Australia conference galvanises a distinguished panel of speakers, while representing key Commonwealth departments and agencies.
