Movers & Shakers

April saw a number of high-profile appointments and departures across the financial services sector, with noteworthy additions to AMP, the RBA, and HSBC.

Australia

AMP has appointed Mike Wilkins to the position of Executive Chairman, following the resignation of Catherine Brenner.

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has appointed Gayan Benedict to the position of Chief Information Officer.

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has appointed Marnie Baker to the position of Managing Director, following the retirement of Mike Hirst on 2 July 2018.

Aussie Home Loans has appointed Aaron Hockey to the position of State Manager South Australia/Northern Territory.

Heritage Bank has announced the retirement of senior executive Paul Francis.

ANZ has announced the retirement Graham Hodges, Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

SocietyOne has appointed Dave Taylor to the position of Non-Executive Director of the Board. Taylor currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Director of G&C Mutual Bank.

Suncorp Group Limited has appointed Christine McLoughlin to the Suncorp Board as Chairman, following the forthcoming retirement of Dr Ziggy Switkowski on the 20 September 2018​

Suncorp Group Limited has also appointed Sylvia Falzon to the position of Non-Executive Director.

The Federal Government has appointed serving ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) Commissioner Mick Keogh to the position of Deputy Chair of the ACCC for a period of five years.

The ACCC has also reappointed Cristina Cifuentes and Sarah Court as Commissioners for a further five years.

BT Financial Group has announced the resignation of John Shuttleworth, General Manager Platforms and Investments.

New Zealand

Kiwibank has appointed Steve Jurkovich to the position Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Kiwi Group Holdings.

Asia-Pacific

HSBC Bank has appointed David Gee to the position of APAC Regional Head of Cybersecurity. Gee previously served as Metlife Asia’s Chief Information Officer.

OCBC Bank has appointed Dennis Hong to the position of Managing Director, OCBC Securities.

DBS Hong Kong has appointed Brit Blakeney to the position of Head of Innovation and Ecosystem.

Bank Negara Malaysia has appointed Encik Nazrul Hisyam Mohd Noh and Encik Tan Nyat Chuan to the position of Assistant Governor.

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed Datuk Zainal Izlan Zainal Abidin to the position of Deputy Chief Executive.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has appointed Chia Der Jiun to the position of Assistant Managing Director (Corporate, HR & IT Services), following the secondment of Ng Nam Sin, currently Assistant Managing Director (Corporate, HR & IT Services), to the Institute of Banking & Finance (IBF) Singapore as full-time chief executive officer.

As a result of Ng’s secondment to the IBF, MAS has also promoted Leong Sing Chiong to the position of Assistant Managing Director (Markets & Investment) and Ng Yao Loong to the position of Assistant Managing Director (Development & International);  Chaly Mah has also been to the MAS Board of Directors.

MAS has also announced the resignation of Lim Chee Onn from the MAS Board and as Chairman of the Risk Committee.

DBS Group has appointed Dr Bonghan Cho to the Boards of DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank.

Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Gautam Jain to SC Ventures – a digital innovation unit within the company.
