Appointments

June marks a number of high-profile appointments across financial services in Australia and New Zealand, with noteworthy additions to Zurich Australia, National Australia Bank and GE Capital Australia.

Raelene Seales has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of General Insurance for Zurich Australia. Seales, who is currently head of wrap and SMSF platforms with ANZ, will replace the departing Shaun Feely as COO.

Greg Miller has been unveiled as Wealth Advice Executive General Manager for National Australia Bank (NAB),  taking over from former Executive General Manager, John Flavell, who joined Mortgage Choice as Chief Executive in December last year. Meanwhile, Doug McKay has been ushered in as a successor to the departing John Waller as a NAB board member and chair of its subsidiary, Bank of New Zealand (BNZ). In addition, Ken Henry has been appointed as Chair of National Australia Bank, replacing Michael Chaney who is expected to step down at the AGM in December.

Julie Bale has been ushered in as GE Capital Australia’s Chief Information Officer, commencing on August 17. Bale will relocate from Brisbane to Melbourne and will be in charge of streamlining the existing systems framework of GE Capital’s Australia and New Zealand Consumer Finance Business arm.

Jocelyn Furlan has been appointed to the board of First State Super for a three year term. Also joining Furlan on the board is Gary Thomas, current chair of the Victorian Healthcare Association and principal in charge of the Southern Regional Tax Group Victoria for accountancy firm Crowe Horwath.

Gerard McDermott has been unveiled as Head of General Insurance within BT Financial Group’s Insurance and Investments business, effective on September 14 this year.

Colin Kelton has been unveiled as Vanguard Australia’s new Managing Director, replacing John James who has left his post to lead the company’s European operations.

Jenni Mack has been appointed to the position of Director of the Board at Sunsuper, following an external recruitment process that sees the current Chair of CoAct and member of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission’s External Advisory Panel join the Sunsuper management team.

Ryan Durance has been announced as the Director of Distribution, Institutional at Bennelong Funds Management. In his new role, Durance will be based in Melbourne and report to Distribution Director Andrew Aitken.

Asia

Appointments

June marks a number of high-profile appointments across financial services in Asia, with noteworthy additions to Standard Chartered Bank, Citi and MasterCard.

Anju Patwardhan has been unveiled as Standard Chartered Bank’s first Group Chief Innovation Officer. Based in Singapore, Patwardhan will report directly to the incoming Group Chief Information Officer, Dr Michael Gorriz, and will oversee the bank’s strategic innovation agenda across its global network with a focus on harnessing new technologies and data science.

Anand Selvakesari has been appointed as Citi’s Head of Consumer Banking for Asia, taking over from Jonathan Larsen. Selvakesari will oversee all of Citi’s consumer businesses in Asia across the 12 markets that Citi offers across retail banking, wealth management, cards and mortgage services. Meanwhile, Eric Au has been announced as director of capital markets for Asia Pacific in a move designed to foster greater cooperation between the American bank’s different operations. He will report to Ken Poon, Head of Capital Markets Origination for Citi in Asia, and Rajat Madhok, Citi’s Middle Market Commercial Banking Head for Asia.

Rama Sridhar will take on the new role of Group Head, Regional Lead, Asia Pacific, Network, Processing & Security Solutions for MasterCard. Meanwhile, Philip Glickman has been unveiled as Head of Commercial Products and Solutions, Asia Pacific for MasterCard and will be based in Singapore. In addition, Ling Hai and Ari Sarker have been appointed as MasterCard’s Co-Presidents for Asia Pacific, taking over from Vicky Bindra, President for Asia Pacific, who will be leaving the company.

In addition, Aftab Ahmed has been announced as Citi’s Country Head for the Philippines, replacing Batara Sianturi who has been named as Country Head for Indonesia. 

Eugene Qian has been ushered in as UBS’ Country Head and President for China, replacing David Li who stepped down to join JPMorgan last year. Meanwhile, He Di has been appointed as Chairman of UBS’ China Securities arm.

Loh Boon Chye has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for The Singapore Exchange, replacing the departing Magnus Böcker.   

Evelyne Collin has been announced as Chief Executive and Country Officer for India at Société Générale. Collin will report to Singapore-based Pascal Lambert, Head of Société Générale’s Corporate and Investment Banking Division for Southeast Asia.
