Chief Technology Officer / Siam Commercial Bank

Colin is the Chief Technology Officer for Siam Commercial Bank and has joined to create a new technology capability within the bank to implement advanced digital capabilities to customers and staff, while moving to a data centric organization. This requires the implementation of a two speed organizational capability meeting the requirements of the core product systems and the agility with the digital platforms.

Previously Colin was the Group Executive for ANZ assigned with overall delivery responsibility for build of a new wholly owned ANZ subsidiary bank ANZ Thai. This program of work required Colin to leverage his operations and technology knowledge of standard capability to ensure that within a 9 month delivery window the Bank could meet the regulatory timeframe for Legal Day 1. The scope of the program brought together the legal and regulatory requirements of setting up an new wholly owned banking subsidiary; build-out new business premises for main and BCP sites, fit out to conform to ANZ brand and operational requirement; recruit and train the local staff team; build the risk structure to meet regulatory and ANZ operational requirements; establish a new regulatory reporting capability; establish an operational team leveraging group centralised processing; leverage existing technology capability and build out local applications.

During his time with ANZ Colin had a number of key business and technology roles, the initial role in Operations was to develop a Regional Based Model which included core deposits and loans, GL and regulatory reporting. Colin progressed into Technology initially as Head of Strategy and Architecture for the region and then Head of Enterprise Strategy for ANZ Group. In this role worked with the business and technical executives within the region and at group level to identify capability that will meet the short term business goals of the organisation while developing the strategic goals of a Super Regional Bank across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Pacific. In this role Colin was supporting a number of business initiatives as well as driving overall ongoing sustainability of the technology delivery capability.

Prior to joining ANZ Colin was Managing Director for FIS (Fidelity) running the Greater China business and the Consulting Services for Asia Pacific. Within consulting, the roles covered business change, business and technology strategy, establish strategic planning capability, business process re-engineering, development & programme management, technical systems design, and complex systems implementation. This has been across a number of regional banks including Standard Chartered, HSBC, Kasikorn Bank, Krungsri Bank, China Construction Bank, Bank of Shanghai, Maybank, BAAC.

Colin’s has worked in Asia for 20 years commencing with Standard Chartered as Head of IT Strategy. Colin’s early career in banking was in HSBC (Midland Bank) in the UK covering technical and business roles.
