William Confalonieri is Deakin University’s Chief Digital Officer appointed in January 2012. He has a blend of public and private sector experience, strong technical and business skills, experience in managing large dispersed teams, and an extensive track record of large scale IT transformations.
William has postgraduate qualifications in Computer Science, Business and Economics, is a certified Enterprise Architect and a graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He has a passion for emerging technologies and believes that digital innovations and changes in technological paradigms will significantly transform Deakin University over the next few years, with the evolving expectations of rich digital experiences being the enablers of that transformation.
William was awarded 2016 CIO of the Year at the Australian Executive Awards (CEO Magazine), and 2018 CIO of the Year by IT News, acknowledging the Deakin Genie project as Australia’s top IT project. William also received this award in 2014 and was a finalist in 2015 and 2017. William is listed as one of 2016 Australia’s top 10 most innovative CIOs by CIO Magazine, and is recipient of the Computerworld/IDG Premier 100 Global Technology Leader Award.
