Kanags is the Head of Digital Banking for CIMB where he is leading a team of very passionate individuals in transforming the channel into the most preferred real estate serving CIMB’s customers.
Kanags is a passionate fintech professional who operates at the confluence of design, business and technology with a broad skill set having operated across strategy, product management, operations and technology functions. Skilled at creative problem solving and in delivering rapid and sustainable impact, has a track record as a leader who thrives on inspiring and developing talent, driving change, and in bringing together cross-functional teams to launch disruptive & innovative solutions.
In the past 18 months at CIMB, Kanags has been driving the transformation of the digital channels and has increased usage of digital channels by more than 30% and mobile by almost 50%. He has been instrumental in launching new capabilities such as CIMB Pay and the AI based app CIMB Eva that lets customers chat with the bank.
Prior to joining CIMB, he was leading the global Digital Channels Team at Standard Chartered where his responsibilities included Strategy, Customer Experience and Emerging Payments where key accomplishments include launching Breeze, the award winning mobile banking suite across multiple markets and Dash, the mobile payments ecosystem with SingTel and driving innovations across the team that has won the World’s Best Digital Bank from Global Finance five times a row between 2010 and 2015.
Kanags holds a MBA from INSEAD, France and a Masters in Science from BITS Pilani, India. He lives in KL with his wife and his son.
