Michele Ferrario

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer / StashAway

Michele is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of StashAway, and also serves as its “Customer Experience Officer,” ensuring that StashAway will be recognised as the most customer-centric wealth manager in the region.

Michele has more than 12 years of experience in the financial services and consumer internet space. He is the former Group CEO of ZALORA, Southeast Asia’s largest fashion e-commerce platform, leading a team of 1,500 people across eight countries and growing ZALORA’s business 15 times during his four years at the helm. Michele also co-founded Rocket Internet in Italy and Pakistan, launching Dalani.it (part of the WestWing Group, focused on home and living) and Payleven Italy (mobile payments), with a total employee count in Italy of over 100. In Pakistan, the team led by Michele set up the 3 largest internet companies in the country, Daraz.pk (fashion e-commerce), Foodpanda.pk (food delivery) and kaymu.pk (general merchandise marketplace).

Michele started his career as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company’s Milan and New York offices serving primarily Financial Institutions, where he advised several world-class financial institutions on a variety of topics, including the largest Italian retail bank, and some of the largest life insurers, retail banks, and retail brokerages globally. He then joined Milan-based Synergo – a Private Equity Fund Manager with AuM of Eur 1+ billion – as an Investment Manager, evaluating potential private equity deals and sitting on the Board of Directors of portfolio companies.

Michele earned his MBA at Columbia Business School and his Bachelor of Science in Financce (cum laude) at Bocconi University in Italy. Michele has been invited by Singapore’s Minister of Finance to be a member of the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE).
