One of China’s major airlines has selected a digital payments provider to digitise booking payments.

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has selected Worldplay as its international payments provider – a deal which has seen acceptance rates across the carrier’s websites rise to over 90 per cent in the few weeks following the initial implementation.

CEA has a total of 17 local websites, with Wordplay now used by the airline company to complete a streamlined payments infrastructure across all of sites. Following the initial success of the first phase of implementation across its Canada, Singapore and US websites, CEA will now introduce its Worldplay platform to its web pages in the Philippines and Hong Kong.

“The payment experience we provide online is a critical part of providing the welcome and reassurance our customers require before flying,” said a CEA spokeperson.

“We are delighted that our collaboration with Worldpay has been so successful to date. Our global vision is to provide the ever-increasing number of travellers across the world that fly with us with an exceptional service.”

The Wordplay platform is now live on 14 of the CEA sites and is set to be implemented in Taiwan, Japan and Korea in the coming month.
