Jenius moves to Finastra’s FusionBanking system

Jenius digital bank, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk. (BTPN), has selected Finastra’s FusionBanking Essence Digital platform to deliver its service platform.

BTPN said the new platform would remove complex banking processes and enable the bank to create highly personalised and easy digital experiences for their customers.

Peterjan van Nieuwenhuizen, head of digital banking at BTPN said the bank has “built a system that enables our customers to complete basic banking processes without going to the branch.”

With a large unbanked population and fast-growing mobile penetration rates, the digital-only bank eyes considerable potential in the Indonesian market.

“Our customers look to us for innovation and fast, efficient services. The Finastra solution helps us deliver on this goal, enabling us to embrace the increasing demand for digital and better serve our customers,” van Nieuwenhuizen said.

Jenius was launched by BTPN in 2016 as a dedicated mobile banking platform for Indonesian residents.

Finastra said its FusionBanking system will also attract better-priced funding and more deposits from a new market segment as well as to bring products to market faster.

“Modern software architecture has enabled the bank to quickly transform digital solutions into powerful sales engines and increase revenue opportunities. It will also enable it to continue evolving alongside the broadening digital landscape in Indonesia,” the release said.

This deployment of FusionBanking Essence Digital is integrated with BTPN’s existing Finastra FusionBanking Equation core banking system.

The FusionBanking plaform provides an integrated suite of components spanning core processing, product factory, analytics, digital channels and branch applications, according to Finastra.

Since its creation last month, following the merger of global fintechs Misys and D&H, Finastra has notched up several big wins, procuring contracts with Banco de Mexico, Rabobank, and Oman Arab Bank.
