ME Bank systems down after overnight technical glitch

System down ME Bank

ME Bank customers have been left unable to access their accounts after a “technical issue”, made public yesterday evening, downed its mobile and internet banking services.

In a message issued on its website yesterday evening (at around 7.15pm AEDT), the digital-only bank admitted its front-facing systems were inaccessible due to a technical glitch.

As of 1:00pm this afternoon (25 January) – more than 30 hours since the issue was first made public by ME – its app and web-based baking portals remain down, with the bank reporting that it now has “specialist support on the case”.

We’re experiencing a technical issue, and the ME Bank app is currently offline. We’re working hard to get back online as soon as possible,” ME said in its Banking System Status Update.

In an update issued at 7:00am this morning, the bank said that it has been working overnight to fix the issue, “but it’s taking a little longer than expected”.

Currently, while internet and mobile banking remain down, physical cards remain operational for payments.

Scheduled payments and transfers will be delayed, ME said, while account balances “may take a few hours longer to update than usual”.

The ME Go app, which features a range of money management tools, remains operational.
