ASD names new cyber security centre head

appointment

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) has announced Stephanie Crowe will step into the role of Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).

Replacing the outgoing Abigail Bradshaw CSC who was recently promoted to Director-General of the ASD, Crowe brings a wealth of experience and expertise in cyber security across government and industry positions, including a 15-year career at the ASD.

Crowe has taken on several key roles with the directorate, including spearheading its technical advice and assistance programs for industry stakeholders and developing the ASD’s cyber threat intelligence solutions.

“I am pleased to see Ms Crowe appointed to this important position. Her experience and expertise across the cyber domain sees her well placed to lead the Australian Cyber Security Centre, at a time where we see Australian networks increasingly targeted by malicious cyber actors,” Richard Marles, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, said.

“Her appointment demonstrates the Albanese Government’s enduring commitment to bolstering the nation’s cyber security efforts as the ASD continues to defend against global threats.”

Commenting on her appointment, Crowe said she was looking forward to heading the ASD’s team of cyber professionals and “strengthening Australia’s cyber resilience”.

“Stephanie has the proven experience in intelligence and cyber operations and has established close relationships with international and industry leaders in cyber security, vital to combatting the dynamic and challenging cyber threat environment,” Bradshaw said.

“Stephanie acutely understands the cyber threats and challenges facing all Australians against a backdrop of rapid advancements in critical and emerging technologies, and how we can better engage them through continued government-industry collaboration.”
