
Westpac names interim consumer chief to replace Jason Yetton, ASIC appoints new CISO after role restructure, and ANZ announces SEA head.
◼️ Westpac has announced the appointment Carolyn McCann as Acting Chief Executive, Consumer, effective 12 May 2025, stepping in for the outgoing Jason Yetton.
McCann, a 12-year veteran of Westpac, currently serves as the bank’s Group Executive, Customer & Corporate Services. She will be seconded to lead the bank’s Consumer division while an external search is underway for a permanent replacement for Yetton.
Yetton, who has led the division since August 2023, announced last month he would depart from the bank.
In her current role as Customer & Corporate Services chief, McCann oversees customer solutions, fraud prevention, customer operations, property, procurement, protective services, corporate affairs, HR, finance services and marketing.
Westpac chief executive Anthony Miller hailed McCann as an “outstanding executive who has overhauled the operations of the bank in her current role”.
“Under Carolyn’s leadership, our broker time to decision has more than halved, scam losses have been reduced by 40 per cent and our customer complaints process has been dramatically simplified.”
Miller added: “Carolyn is a customer-focused leader who empowers her people to act. She will bring this focus to the Consumer division while we continue the search for a permanent chief executive.”
General Manager, Property, Procurement and Resilience, Carolyn Hoy will step up as Group Executive, Customer & Corporate Services, during McCann’s secondment.
Hoy has served with Westpac for almost 20 years in a range of roles across Legal, Compliance and Risk.
◼️ The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has appointed Jamie Norton to the newly revived Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) role.
The CISO role was most recently held by Jez Clement, who has served in the position since December 2021. The position has since been reclassified by ASIC as a senior executive function.
Norton joins from corporate advisory and restructuring firm McGrathNicol, where he was Partner for four years.
Previously, Norton held the role of CISO and Assistant Commissioner at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three years, and was previously Head of Cyber Security at NEC Australia.
Commenting on his new role via LinkedIn, Norton said he was “excited to lead the expansion of our corporate cybersecurity capabilities while also contributing to ASIC’s regulatory functions and broader security initiatives”.
He added: “I’ve been impressed by the high quality of senior leadership at ASIC and the professionalism of the extended cyber team.”
◼️ ANZ has appointed Chris Raciti as Country Head ANZ Singapore.
The role encompasses regional oversight for ANZ’s businesses in eight markets across South East Asia, India and the Middle East.
Raciti has held a number of senior leadership roles over his 20-year career at ANZ, including Country Head ANZ China, Country Head ANZ Korea, and Head of Loan Syndications and Specialised Finance for North Asia, based in Hong Kong.
Commenting on the appointment, ANZ Managing Director, International, Simon Ireland, said he was “confident that Chris is the right person to lead our business in Singapore, a global financial hub and a vital part of the region’s continued growth.”
“His commitment to bringing the best of our network to customers, underpinned by a strong risk and regulatory foundations, will serve him well as he takes on this new leadership position.”
Ireland added: “Chris is one of our most experienced bankers and leaders in the Asia-Pacific region. He is well-known for his ability to build highly engaged teams and drive growth and strategic opportunities for our business and customers.”
Raciti is set to commence in June.
◼️ Resimac has confirmed newly appointed Chief Executive Pete Lirantzis will officially commence in the role on 30 April 2025.
Lirantzis, whose appointment as CEO was announced in December 2024, replaces Susan Hansen who will step down as Interim CEO and continue as a Resimac Director.
Joining the lender in February this year, Lirantzis currently holds the role of Chief Strategy, Products and Operating.
◼️ Bupa has appointed Dr Nicholas Woods as Chief Health Officer (CHO) for APAC, commencing in July.
As CHO, Woods will oversee clinical services across Bupa’s APAC business, working in close collaboration with clinical leaders and hospital partners.
He will report directly to Bupa APAC CEO Nick Stone.
Bupa APAC CEO Nick Stone said the health insurer was “thrilled to have someone of Nic’s calibre and experience join Bupa at such a transformational time for the health sector, bringing both deep clinical expertise and business leadership to our executive team.”
Woods joins Bupa from Calvary Care, where he most recently served as Head of Digital Health Informatics, leading initiatives to enhance clinician engagement and improve digital health and data maturity across the organisation.
Woods previously held the role of Chief Medical Officer at Microsoft, an executive role at Cerner, and remains a practicing clinician.
Stone said Woods’ appointment followed an extensive internal and external process.
“Nic is a known and dedicated leader in the clinical community. He’s passionate about improving community health and clinical outcomes and embracing new technologies and medical advancements to meet the future needs of patients,” Stone said.
