The use and understanding of cloud has changed markedly in recent years. The first incarnations of the ‘cloud stack’ were often seen as little more than simple data repositories; cloud today is a whole-of-business operating model – one that not only evolves with changing operational needs, but also leverages its data to help drive business-critical processes and decision making.

Earlier this month, senior members of the Dell Technologies cloud team and FST Media hosted leading technology, cloud and transformation heads from across Australia’s financial services sector as part of the Cloud Fit vs Cloud First – Addressing Cloud Complexity webinar. This virtual event explored common pain points encountered during cloud migration journeys, as well as factors determining an organisation’s effective use of their cloud data. This included:

  • old economy vs new economy technologies & the push to embrace a cloud-native approach
  • concerns around legacy processes stymying digital transformation initiatives
  • the criticality of quality data as a decision making asset
  • inconsistencies in security frameworks & the ongoing compliance challenge
