March saw a number of high-profile appointments and departures across the financial services sector, with noteworthy additions to MLC Life Insurance, The Bank of Singapore, and Westpac.
Australia
MLC Life Insurance has appointed Sarv Girn to the newly created position of Chief Innovation and Transformation Officer. Girn currently serves as Chief Information Officer for the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has appointed Marnie Baker to the position of Managing Director following the forthcoming retirement of Mike Hirst in July.
ANZ has appointed Richard Dawson to the position of Head of Loans & Specialised Finance, International.
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has announced three key departures within its senior executive team: Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, group executive of institutional banking and markets; David Whiteing, group executive of enterprise services and chief information officer; and Melanie Laing, group executive of human resources. Rosmarin and Whiteing will step down in April, 2018, with Laing expected to depart at the end of 2018.
AMP has announced the retirement of Craig Meller, Chief Executive, at the end of 2018.
QBE Insurance has announced the departure of Tony Forward, Chief Information Officer. Forward stepped down in March.
QBE Insurance has also announced that Jason Hammond, General Manager Broker Distribution, has accepted a secondment in QBE’s Asia Pacific department.
ANZ has announced the departure of Graham Ansell, Chief Investment Officer. Ansell will step down at the end of April.
ANZ has appointed Michelle Jablko to ANZ New Zealand’s board as a non-executive director. Jablko serves as Chief Financial Officer for the ANZ Banking Group.
IAG has appointed Michelle Tredenick and Sheila McGregor to the company’s board as independent non-executive directors.
Newcastle Permanent Building Society has appointed Margie Haseltine to the company’s board as a non-executive director.
Moneycatcha has appointed John Heaton to the position of Chief Technology Officer.
Ignition Wealth has appointed Manish Prasad to the position of Chief Executive.
Asia
The Bank of Singapore has appointed Anthony Adriano Simcic to the position of Managing Director.
The Bank of Singapore has also appointed Derrick Tan to the position of Chief Executive of BoS’ Hong Kong division. Tan will also maintain his current role as Global Market Head for Greater China and North Asia.
Westpac has appointed Michael Correa to the position of General Manager, Asia Pacific.
Manulife has appointed George Lai to the position of Senior Regional Director.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has appointed Clement Lau to the position of Executive Director (Monetary Management).
Hang Seng Bank has appointed Ryan Yue Sheng Song to the position of Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive. Sheng has also been appointed as member of the bank’s executive committee.
The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin to the position of Judicial Commissioner. Dato’ Ahmad Fairuz will leave his current position as a Deputy Chief Executive at the SC on 31 March 2018.
