Zia joined MetLife in July 2014 as the Chief Innovation Officer for the company’s Asia region and Chief Executive Officer of LumenLab, an industry-first innovation center, based in Singapore. As a member of MetLife’s Asia Leadership Group, he is responsible for steering the company’s innovation agenda across the region, with a focus on addressing the health, aging, and wealth needs of Asia-based consumers. He is also the Diversity & Inclusion Head for Asia, speaking at Global Summit of Women at Sydney in 2018.
Zia joined MetLife from SingTel, where he spent 3 years, more recently as the Chief Strategy Officer for SingTel’s Group Enterprise running its innovation portfolio including cloud.
Prior to SingTel, he was the Chief Strategy Officer for LG Electronics North America and also served as the Chief Marketing Officer at FAST where he successfully positioned FAST as a leader in the enterprise search space which culminated in a US$1.2billion acquisition by Microsoft. At Gartner, he ran the North American strategy consulting practice. In the earlier part of his career, Zia was a member of the M&A team at Sun Microsystems and a management consultant.
Zia is a frequent keynote speaker on matters relating to inclusion, insurtech, and innovation and has written about culture, travel, and hockey. He has occupied various board positions at tech startups and was a board member on Viking. He currently sits on the Board of the Energy Market Authority of Singapore. Zia holds an MBA from Stanford’s GSB. He also has a bachelor’s degree from MIT in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in operations research, also from MIT. Zia is married with two children and lives in Singapore
