Brett O’Riley is the current Chief Executive of Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development (ATEED), Auckland’s economic growth agency tasked with improving New Zealand’s economic prosperity by leading the successful transformation of Auckland’s economy. ATEED is particularly focused on attracting smart capital and generating high value jobs, leveraging off Auckland’s innovation eco system and digital infrastructure.
Brett has worked on a wide range of start-up and major infrastructure and change projects, and developments in the ICT industry in New Zealand and internationally. He has held senior management positions for over 30 years in the private and public sectors, including 14 years working with companies within the Telecom group including Southern Cross Cable.
Recent roles include Deputy Chief Executive, Business Innovation and Investments for the Ministry of Science + Innovation, and founding CEO of the NZICT Group (now called the NZ Technology Industry Association) which is made up of New Zealand’s leading technology companies.
Brett’s current governance roles include a founding member of the Board of Trustees of the Manaiakalani Education Trust. He is also a member of the Innovation Partnership Advisory Board, NZ Leaders Board and is a member of the Ministry of Education Review of Digital Technologies in the National Curriculum
