David Dans is currently Chief Information Officer at the Department of Education in Western
David holds a Bachelor of Business (IS) from ECU, is a graduate of Columbia Business School’s Advanced Management Program, holds a Certificate in Risk and Governance and has significant
experience at ‘C’ level. He has over 30 years of experience in the technology and commercial arena and has lived and worked in Australia, South East Asia, and Europe and been responsible for projects
across the globe. He was previously Landgate’s Chief Digital Officer, iiNet’s first CIO, CEO of a national parking technology company, Group Risk Manager for a large listed company, COO of a small listed tech
company, and Global Head of Small Projects for ERG amongst a wide and varied career. In 2015 David won the WAITTA INCITE Chief Information Officer of the Year award as well as the
Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) WA IT Practitioner of the Year.He has a strong conviction that the development and deployment of technology must be focused on its
organisational purpose, that the customer comes first and that while technology is a vital and valuable part of successful organisations, it is not the end in itself – it’s how you use it!
