As the Assistant Secretary – Commonwealth Security Policy, Tim leads the coordination
and administration of whole-of-government cyber and protective security policy.
He is responsible for leading teams that implement the Protective Security Policy
Framework, the Hosting Certification Framework and the Commonwealth Cyber Uplift
Plan.
His teams manage the governance and assurance of protective security policy
arrangements for Government, provide security assurance for private sector hosting and
cloud providers and lead policy development aimed at the hardening of Australian
Government IT through a Zero Trust agenda.
Prior to his role as Assistant Secretary and before joining the Department of Home Affairs
in March 2024, Tim held roles at Microsoft; was the Digital Transformation & Cyber
Security advisor in the Turnbull Government; and a technology leader at the Departments’
of Defence and Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Tim has a Masters in International Security, Bachelors in Politics and is a Graduate of the
Defence Intelligence Training Centre.
