Team Leader, Cybercrime Operations Organised Crime and Cyber / Australian Federal Police

Federal Agent Scott Mellis is Team Leader of Cybercrime Operations with the Australian Federal Police in Melbourne. Scott commenced in AFP cybercrime (then called Computer Crime) in 1995.  Since then, he has completed three separate postings to AFP Cybercrime spanning a 12 year period.

Scott was formerly in charge of Cybercrime Intelligence in the Australian High Tech Crime Centre in Canberra between 2004 and 2008, before taking up the Cybercrime Operations Team Leader position in Melbourne in 2009.  In 2013, Scott completed a posting to the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance in Pittsburgh, USA. 

Scott’s work includes leading teams investigating complex transnational cybercrime, providing cybercrime intelligence at both a tactical and strategic level, incident response and developing and maintaining strong strategic relationships with government, law enforcement and the IT industry globally.

Scott has travelled extensively lecturing and presenting on cybercrime in the US, Europe and South East-Asia to law enforcement and industry. He has a strong interest in researching new threats and emerging trends.
