Mary Hobson joined eRSA in August 2010, to take up the reins of operational management of the organisation. At present she is working, with the eRSA team, on strategies to make eResearch effective and ground breaking in South Australia.
During the early 90s, she led a British Government funded aid project in the USSR to create an innovation centre and help access western markets for Russian research in microelectronics and associated sciences. After the project concluded, she founded a technology transfer consultancy in Russia and created and ran a start-up company with Russian microelectronic engineers, selling integrated design capability to western chip manufacturers. In 2005 Mary moved to New Zealand, where she has worked in a number of senior academic management positions in the Polytechnic sector.
