Michael O’Neil (Mike) has been working with data and information delivery for most of his working life starting as an Economist involved in economic research and forecasting in the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. In a number of roles in the private sector the focus was on helping business users to make sense of data and apply that to solving business problems. He returned to the public sector in 2003 joining MSD as Manager, Data Warehouse. In 2008 he joined a New Zealand BI Software development company helping grow it towards its eventual sale. On his return to MSD he has more recently helped lead strategy and architecture for a client centred approach to organising government administrative data to support operational analytics. His current role in MSD is Digital Analytics Delivery Manager helping MSD move towards more on-line and digital services for clients supported by analytics. Mike is involved part with the Social Investment Agency supporting the Data Team bringing strategic and innovative thinking to developing the cross sector data sharing and access platform.
