Neil Hurley

Chief Information Officer / Ministry for the Environment

Neil is Chief Information Officer at the Ministry for the Environment and is responsible for the provision of information and technology services, data stewardship, knowledge management, embedding project management practices as well as providing project and programme management resources to the wider Ministry. 

Before this, Neil led a transformative programme at the Ministry to re-design the way information and technology services were delivered.  This programme led to an outsourcing arrangement in partnership with Land Information New Zealand and the adoption of a number of ICT Common Capability ‘as a service’ products. 

Neil has spent over 10 years in the public service in a number of business, project management and information technology roles across a number of agencies from Health, Economic Development and Justice, before joining the Ministry for the Environment in 2010.
