Professor Y.B. Yeung is currently an Adjunct Professor with the Hong Kong Baptist University. He has over 40 years of IT experience and has worked in large international financial institutions in both Hong Kong and Canada. Prior to joining the academia, he held the position of Assistant General Manager, Chief Information Officer of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) for Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region. With over 3,000 IT staff reporting to him, his responsibilities covered setting and directing IT strategy, software design and development, IT operations and telecommunications. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Bank.
After his retirement from HSBC, Professor Yeung has been appointed to the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board and the Lottery Fund Advisory Committee. Currently, Professor Yeung is on the Certification Board of the Hong Kong Institute for IT Professional Certification (HKITPC) and he is a member of the Hong Kong Computer Society Advisory Council.
In Jun 2012, Professor Yeung received the ICT Life Time Achievement award from the Hong Kong Computer Society and in Nov 2012, he became a Distinguished Fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society.
In July, 2014, Professor Yeung was appointed by the Hong Kong Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data to the Standing Committee for Technology Development.
