Financial services movers and shakers: Asia monthly wrap

Yvonne Chia will retire from the position of CEO at Hong Leong bank, effective June 30. Chia held the role for over ten years, and the bank has yet to announce a replacement.

Christopher Lasowski has been named Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Hong Kong at Citigroup. Laskowski has been covering the Asian market since 1999 and will continue to head up the Asia Pacific private-equity advisory practice. He will also be the Chief Operating Officer of the Corporate and Investment Banking for the region.

Dianne Challenor has been appointed Head of Transaction Services for Asia Pacific for J.P. Morgan. Challenor will be based in Hong Kong and replaces Hendra Lembong, who has moved to a new role within J.P. Morgan’s Asia Pacific private bank. Challenor was previously Citigroup’s Chief Operating Officer for Asia Pacific, a role that is being made redundant by the bank.

Miyuki Kashima will lead a new Japanese equities team for ING. The team will be six-strong and operate out of Tokyo.

Sabrina Gan has been appointed by BlackRock as its Head of Retail Distribution in Singapore. Gan’s previous job was with Schroder Investment Management.

Deepak Abraham has been appointed Head of Capital Strategy, Asia Pacific, for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Abraham was formally with Morgan Stanley and located in Dubai. He will relocate to Hong Kong for his new role.

Petter Sternby has been appointed Head for Financial Institutions Coverage in South East Asia for Standard Chartered. Based in Singapore he reports to James Pearson, Global Head of Financial Institutions Strategic Coverage and joins the bank from Nomura.
