Australia and New Zealand
August marks a number of high-profile appointments across financial services in Australia and New Zealand, with noteworthy additions to AMP Bank, OneVue and AIA Australia.
Sally Bruce has been appointed as Managing Director for AMP Bank, reporting to Group Executive Advice and Banking Rob Caprioli. In Bruce’s new role, she will be responsible for all areas of AMP Bank, including its range of savings and transaction accounts, home loan products, strategy, marketing and distribution.
Craig Giffin has been ushered in as head of compliance, legal and responsible entity services for OneVue, overseeing the group’s operations as OneVue prepares to release a series of new developments later in the year. Meanwhile, Mark Bennet has been ushered in as head of investment accounting and responsible entity services. In addition, Patrick Stampfli leaves his post at BNP Paribas to become deputy technology officer at OneVue, reporting to the group’s chief technology officer, James Thorpe. Joining them is Jamie Spark, who has been appointed as a relationship manager at OneVue.
Kristen Lennis-Harvey has joined AIA Australia as its head of strategic partnerships and is responsible for managing AIA Australia’s relationships with licensees, aggregators and platforms. In addition, Melissa Crawford has been appointed to the newly-created role of distribution strategy manager and will work with the strategic partnership and distribution teams to create leading strategies and tools for licensees and advisers.
Michael Cameron, who was announced as the new Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Suncorp Group earlier this year, will now commence his role on Thursday 1st of October 2015. Currently, Cameron sits as the Managing Director of GPT and has been a non-executive Director of Suncorp Group since April, 2012.
Greg Nichelsen has been appointed as the executive manager of customer data and analytics at Suncorp. The role sees Nichelsen leading the development of Suncorp Group’s customer data and analytics strategy to achieve customer outcomes through data-driven customer experiences.
Sandra de Castro, chief marketing officer for NAB, has left the company after more than four years leading the banking group’s marketing division. Prior to joining NAB, de Castro spent 15 years with strategy consulting group, Corporate Value Associates, before being appointed NAB’s CMO in November, 2010. Michael Nearhos steps up to the role and will be acting CMO for NAB until an official replacement is announced.
Claire Rawlins has been appointed to the role of Group Chief Information Officer, IAG, as the firm looks to cement its position as a digital market leader.
Jason Clarke has been appointed executive general manager, intermediary distribution for QBE Insurance’s Australia and New Zealand operations while Steven Raynor will take on the same role at the newly-formed transformation business unit.
Renee McGowan has been announced as the Chief Customer and Marketing Officer for Mercer’s Pacific Market Leadership Team. McGowan’s new role sees her direct the firm’s customer experience strategies and lead the consolidated consumer and business marketing functions.

Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir has been announced as the Group Managing director for AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank). The move sees Sulaiman Mohd Tahir depart his current role as chief executive officer for CIMB Bank to step into the role vacated by Ashok Ramamurthy in April this year.
Iain Taylor has been ushered in as chief operating officer of DBS Bank’s global transaction services. Taylor is set to commence his new role later this month on September 15.
Wendy Wang has been appointed as the chief information officer for HSBC Commercial Banking in Hong Kong. Previously, Wang worked as a Project Manager for Deutsche Bank before moving on to HSBC Securities as the Head of Global Banking and Markets Technology for Asia Pacific.
Charles Wong has been announced as the new head of retail banking for Citi Singapore. Reporting to Citi Singapore chief executive officer Han Kwee Juan, Wong’s new role sees him responsible for Citi’s retail banking business in Singapore and will have oversight of wealth management, bancassurance, sales and network distribution.
Winson Yap has been announced was chief distribution officer for Professional Investment Advisory Services (PIAS) in Singapore. The role sees YAP lead PIAS’ business development, marketing and corporate communications functions, with the aim of helping the firm further grow its presence and expand its footprint in Singapore.
Alex Aram has been promoted to head of credit trading operations for Barclays in Asia Pacific. Aram first joined the bank in July 2008 and will now report to Mark Dearlove, head of markets for Asia Pacific. Meanwhile, Simon Moore has joined the bank as head of Credit Sales for Singapore. Moore will report to Ellis Thomas, Barclays’ head of credit sales in Asia Pacific.
