The Australian Digital Health Agency has posted a Request for Information (RFI) to gain insights and support from industry experts for the maintenance of Australia’s digital health infrastructure, including My Health Record.
The agency said it was looking for ideas from all types of industry experts on how it can “best deliver the support, maintenance and enhancement” of My Health Record and other applications. These insights will then inform and guide the agency’s approach to market in 2025 to partner with an Application Support and Maintenance (ASM) services provider.
“As stewards of digital health in Australia, we are dedicated to building and sustaining national infrastructure that supports the secure, reliable, accessible sharing of health information for all Australians and healthcare providers, now and for the future,” CEO, Amanda Cattermole PSM, said.
“In a rapidly evolving sector this RFI represents a pivotal step towards supporting a modernised My Health Record system using the latest technological advances – helping to ensure that our digital health infrastructure is contemporary, adaptable and prepared for the future.
“This will be vital as we take appreciable steps towards a health information system that provides near real-time data sharing for all Australians and the healthcare providers who care for them.”
According to the RFI published on the national tender website, AusTender, the agency is “aiming to further its understanding of any relevant technical or process driven advances and/or innovative service solutions which are available. The agency is encouraging industry experts to provide their valuable insights on how best to undertake the support, maintenance, and enhancements of My Health Record and other applications to meet current and future needs. The optimal operating model for the agency will be the most effective mix of inhouse design and delivery capability combined with outsourced approaches to provide modern, clinically safe, consumer focused, digital health products and services”.
“Our ambitious agenda to transform digital health infrastructure relies on the unique perspectives and extensive expertise of industry,” Chief Technology Officer, John Borchi, said.
“The responses to this RFI will greatly influence our ongoing digital infrastructure strategy, although participation is not a prerequisite for future procurement opportunities.”
The agency is also hosting an online briefing welcome to industry participants on 12 November, to provide further details about the RFI.
