Global Payments Oceania, the local arm of the US paytech company, has unveiled an Australian-first omnichannel solution that incorporates e-commerce, in-person EFTPOS, and real-time PayTo capabilities into a single platform, promising service providers the capability to deliver more personalised experiences for customers.

The payments platform, ‘Global Payments Omnichannel’, provides a single, unified customer touch point to support multiple payment methods, as well as an integrated view of a customer across merchants’ commerce channels, including in-store, online, mobile or other payment channels.

The platform leverages a Single API to generate a complete set of data that, according to Global Payments, “provides a unified view into consumers’ buying habits”.

“This functionality enables businesses to gain deeper customer insights at scale, resulting in more relevant and personalised consumer experiences, while delivering a seamless buying experience across every channel and device.”

Global Payments’ chief executive of Payments Oceania (Eway and Ezidebit), Masseh Haidary, said the platform “utilises innovative real-time technology as a differentiator and enables businesses to offer their customers best-in-class payment channel options”.

“With future capability expansions already underway, including multi-market payments capability for global connectivity, our Single API platform is designed to adapt and grow with market needs.”

He added that the technology was developed by leveraging the “combined local expertise accumulated across more than two decades via the Ezidebit and Eway platforms with the technological leadership of Global Payments to deliver a unified platform with significant capability.”

Chevy Devudu, Global Payments’ head of partner acquisition Oceania, added that the platform’s omnichannel capability “bridges the gap between the online and offline experience”.

“Our Single API technology places merchants in a better position to meet changing market demands, such as increased real-time PayTo payments adoption.”

An alternative to direct debits, PayTo enables merchants to prompt customers and initiate real-time payments from customers’ bank accounts, and at the other end provides consumers with greater visibility over their payments, including a full view of debiting merchants and upcoming payments.
