ANZ launches CDR-backed accounts overview feature

ANZ Plus Launch

ANZ Plus, ANZ’s digital-only spin-off, has launched a new in-app feature enabling customers to view their bank accounts held across multiple financial institutions.

The service, known as My Accounts, which leverages the Consumer Data Right’s (CDR’s) data sharing rails, promises for ANZ Plus customers “a safe and secure way” to link and view their eligible bank accounts in one place, and in real-time.

ANZ claims it is the first time an Australian banking app has featured this accounts viewing function, through the Open Banking rail, that gives customers a consolidated view across multiple financial institutions in which they hold an account – this includes transaction, savings, credit card, and home loan accounts (and may include joint accounts, business accounts and trust accounts) held at ANZ and other institutions.

Through My Accounts, customers will also be able to see the transactions they have made within these shared accounts.

By leveraging Open Banking rails, ANZ said, customers are provided “safe and secure way of sharing banking data”, and does not require them to share their passwords from other banks or third-party providers when sharing their data with ANZ Plus.

Commenting on the launch of the new feature, ANZ group executive of Australia retail Maile Carnegie noted that almost half of Australians hold accounts with two or more banks.

“Instead of having to flick between multiple apps or websites, our more than 800,000 ANZ Plus customers are the first in Australia to be able to use their banking app to see their consolidated accounts using Open Banking,” she said.

“By giving our customers a bird’s eye perspective of their accounts, we can help them to better understand and manage their money.”
