Apple pay will now be available to ANZ NZ customers in a bid from the bank to increase security around payments.

ANZ customers with a bank visa credit or debit card will be able to use the popular pay system, which ANZ chief executive, David Hisco, said was a logical step forward as payments across retail and business digitised.

“Adding Apple Pay to our mobile payment offering will make it fast and convenient for more customers to securely make every day purchases,” he said.

“More than 50 per cent of ANZ Visa transactions are contactless and this number is steadily increasing as more retailers adopt contactless technology.”

ANZ New Zealand Head of Digital and Transformation Liz Maguire said: “Our customers asked us for Apple Pay and we’re thrilled they can now use it,” stating it was an initiative strongly in line with the bank’s push for a strong innovation agenda.

“We’re confident they will enjoy this easy, simple and secure way to pay.”

Apple Pay can be used across New Zealand including at all major retailers.
