Citibank India has partnered with Israeli technology company, Nice, to roll out voice biometrics to customers starting in 2017.
Following an announcement from Citi earlier in the year on its plans to expand biometric offerings across the Asian region, voice recognition is now being rolled out in India.
Citi India customers would be able to use voice recognition as an access code for digital banking. The biometrics employed allow for customers to be automatically verified in 15, a total of 30 seconds less than the expected time spent over the phone.
The technology involved a personal voice print stored and recorded in a voice bank, allowing for Citi’s integration of voice authentication into core banking offerings.
In the announcement of its intention to roll out voice biometrics in the Asia-Pacific region over the 2016-2017 year, Citi estimated that 1 million customers would use the service within a year of its implementation.
