Ex-Barclays MD joins fintech firm

The former head of DCM and structured products at Barclays has joined artificial intelligence fintech firm Alpaca to help its Japanese business push.

Former Barclays managing director, Morifumi Yotsumoto has joined financial trading technology start-up, Alpaca, as its head of Japan and chief financial officer.

In an effort to boost the profile of the fintech across the Japanese market, Yotsumoto will work in strategy for the acceleration of business.

Yotsumoto began his career at Nissho Iwai , one of Japan’s top trading companies, where he traded products including FX, treasury, rate derivatives, hedge fund investments, and PE investments. He also previously worked for Lehman Japan, built off a background in securitization, investment banking and debt capital markets (DCMs).

Most recently at Barclays, Yotsumoto has held senior roles in structured product sales, real estate capital markets, and DCMs.

Alpaca was founded in 2013 to focus on the development AI and big data technology around the capital market data.
