Square launches payment APIs for e-commerce

Financial services aggregator Square had introduced new payment APIs to assist businesses to better management point of sale and e-commerce solutions.

Payments technology company Square had introduced new payment APIs to assist businesses to better management point of sale and e-commerce solutions.

Australian business owners are facing the challenge of collating software, hardware, payments, and e-commerce service from multiple vendors, which is unnecessarily time consuming, according to financial services company, Square.

The launch of Square’s Build with Square payment API would seek to service the omni-channel needs of Australian business owners, and allow for simple integration of solutions with an additional secure payment acceptance.

Square Australian country manager, Ben Pfisterer, said: “It’s more common than ever for businesses of any size to sell their products or services online and in-person, so having a fully integrated omni-channel system gives them a powerful advantage.”

“Businesses can now accept payments through any channel and gain a single, holistic view of their business, which vastly reduces the complexity of having to navigate numerous, disparate systems.”

The new Square platform would integrate with sites including Weebly and Wix, and the API would allow any iOS or Android point of sale platform to deliver customer payment processing.

“[This] vastly increases the capability of the Square platform and enables deeper partnerships with third party solutions,” Pfisterer said.

“[We] continue releasing new features and products…bringing unique and innovative solutions to Australian businesses.”
