Global investment manager, Standard Life Investments, has appointed a new investment director specialising in emerging market debt.

Former JP Morgan Asset Management employee, Imran Ahmed, has been appointed as investment director – Emerging Market Debt (EMD), in a bid from Standard Chartered to increase strategies across EMD funds.

Ahmed’s appointment follows Standard Life Investment’s unveiling of an EMD Unconstrained SICAV, which is now the fourth strategy in the suite of EMDs available to both retail and institutional investors.

Standard Life Investment head of emerging markets fixed income, Richard House, said that the Imran would help boost the capabilities of the business in global emerging markets.

“Imran’s skill set compliments the team’s approach to managing EM fixed income portfolios, namely high conviction macro based investing,” he said.

“[It] allows us to seek out the best investment ideas and opportunities for our investors.”
