David Fried will take on QBE’s merger of operations in Latin America and Asia Pacific to form an emerging markets division. Fried will vacate his role as Asia-Pacific Operations CEO and begin his new role in August.

Bruce MacDiarmid has been named Co-Head of investment banking coverage in Australia and New Zealand and Head of Utilities and Infrastructure, Asia Pacific at Deutsche Bank.

Colin Mugglestone, Macquarie’s head of Australia Energy and Utilities Investment Banking is retiring from the Australian bank, according to a media report. It comes after the planned retirement of John Hughes, the bank’s Global Head of Principal Investments next month.

Dayle Stevens has been promoted to General Manager of Support Services Technology from her role as Head of Technology, Enterprise Applications and Data Services at National Australia Bank (NAB).

Lisa Palma has been promoted to General Manager, Technology Workplace Service Management from her role as Program Director NextGen Direct Bank Deployment, and Nicole Devine has also been promoted to General Manager, Program Office and Commercial Management from her previous role as Head of Portfolio Services and Transformation at the bank.

Peeyush Gupta has been named as a non-executive Board Director for National Australia Bank (NAB) he moves from his current role as a non-executive Director of National Wealth Management Holdings a subsidiary of NAB. Gupta will replace Geoff Tomlinson, who will retire in December.

Melinda Howes will join BT Financial Group as its new General Manager of Superannuation. Howes joins BT Financial Group from her role as Director, Product, Strategy and Services at AMP.

Joel Posters will join The Future Fund, vacating his role as De Lage Landen’s Global Head of Sustainability, a part of Rabobank Group. Posters has been appointed as Head of Environmental,Social and Governance Risk Management and will relocate to Australia from the Netherlands to join the fund.

Jason Millett will take the role of Interim Chief Information Officer at Westpac New Zealand Limited, while the bank restructures its executive team to include the role of the CIO as part of the executive leadership team.

Jeff Smith has resigned from his position as Suncorp’s Technology Chief and will take up a global role with IBM. Suncorp’s current Chief Information Officer, Matt Pancino will replace Smith in the role.

Damien Mu, General Manager of Life Insurance at AIA Australia has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of AIA Australia. Mu will replace Peter Crewe who will take up the position of Chief Executive Officer, Group Corporate Solutions of AIA Group and will be based in Hong Kong.

Matt Brotherton has been promoted at Westpac to the newly-created role of CIO of Payments, as part of a reshuffle where several IT heads have been given CIO titles.

Edith Pfister has been appointed to the newly created role of General Manager, Strategic Finance at TAL Life Insurance, Pfister is currently Principle Director at NOVUS Advisory.
