Akiko is the Head of Open Innovation at LumenLab, MetLife Asia’s innovation center in Singapore. She is responsible for identifying partnership opportunities with insurtech start-ups via MetLife’s ‘collab’ matchmaking platform, and for driving internal incubation projects.
Prior to her current role, Akiko spent 5 years as an entrepreneur introducing investment and exit opportunities in South East Asia to ultra-high net worth investors, building on her experience at Temasek Holdings, where she successfully arranged follow-on funding for venture capital during the global financial crisis and identified areas of core value in portfolio companies. Her buy side career began as an investment analyst at Colony Capital, after working in Salomon Smith Barney’s investment banking division in NY and Tokyo.
Akiko has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in history, an LLB degree from Kyoto University in law, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She resides in Singapore with her family.
