Evelyn is a self-confessed data zealot and a strong believer in the power of data and insights to improve lives. As Chief Data and Insights Officer for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), Evelyn is responsible for growing governance, strategy and capability to help MBIE to get its data engine in gear and become an insights-driven organisation. Prior to this, at Stats NZ, Evelyn led the delivery of online data for customers and the rapid expansion of New Zealand’s Integrated Data Infrastructure as a world-leading research hub of anonymised, person-centred data.
Evelyn has explored the opportunities, risks, principles, and roadmap for data sharing and use in New Zealand through her role on the NZ Data Futures Forum and a leadership fellowship to the UK and USA.
