Unlocking the value of data and statistics is something that Rachael has been passionate about her whole career, spanning over twenty years. Rachael is currently acting Deputy Chief Executive Data System Leadership at Stats NZ where she is responsible for data system strategy and policy, data capability (including data standards), the Open Data programme, Strategic Engagement, Enterprise Architecture, Te Tohu Rautaki Angitu Māori and supporting Liz MacPherson in her role as Government Chief Data Steward.
Rachael has represented New Zealand in the international statistical community including as the working chair of the United Nations Friends of the Chair Group on the Fundamental Principles for Official Statistics and Open Data. She has also been a member of the New Zealand AI Forum Executive Board since 2019.
