The Texas-based software firm, AgileCraft, will open its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne in early New Year to reach regional markets and create new jobs.

Texas-based AgileCraft has announced plans to open its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne under moves to target business across Asia Pacific.

The company specialises in simplifying software for large organisations. Plans are underway to establish a software development hub in Victoria by 2018.

Philip Dalidakis, minister for small business, innovation and trade, said the entry by AgileCraft is another example of a global firm using Victoria to build the regional base, and create new opportunities.

Over the past two years, the state has taken “brand Victoria” globally to attract investment partners, and grow the base for high-tech jobs. “This is good for Victorian jobs and Victoria’s economy.”

Fortune Magazine recently acknowledged AgileCraft’s approach to software development and workplace innovation.

Founded in 2013, this firm supplies services to major global companies. These include the Australian Tax Office, Southwest Airlines, and the carrier AT&T.

In the past 12 month, other global firm have preceded AgileCraft, including Hired, Slack, GoPro and Square.

The Victorian government has invested heavily in the tech sector to build branding as the “number one destination” for business and tech investment across Asia Pacific.

Since November 2014, more than 2,140 new tech jobs were created from this investment. This has boosted the tech sector that now hires more than 83,000 people across nearly 8,000 companies.

ICT investment opportunities will be showcased at the Annual FST Government Victoria conference being held 20th July in Melbourne.
