BRAD HOWARTH (MODERATOR): At a time like this, when budgets are contracting and discretionary spending has been reined in, bigger projects may be harder to justify. How much room is there for service-oriented architecture (SOA) in the current environment?

DAVID CAMPBELL, MLC: There is more pressure now on cost, so it is actually a good time to engage with the business on cost reduction. The imperative for standardisation and process efficiency is being felt now by our business colleagues, so it is a good time to engage them in a longer term discussion around cost reduction.
