Ir. Airull Azizi Bin Awang Lah (PhD) is a Principal Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Multimedia University in 2002 and obtained his Master Degree in System Engineering (2019) and Doctorate (2024) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He is a certified engineer specializing in the telecommunication sector and has more than 17 years of experience in the telecommunication industry covering various technologies from fixed and mobile networks, wireless, satellite, subsea cables and cyber security, before joining the government sector in 2020. In MOSTI, his primary role is driving the emerging technologies-related policies for development and acculturation while solving national challenges. He is part of the pioneering team in developing the national AI and blockchain roadmap in 2021 and recently led the development of AI Governance and Ethics guidelines. He is currently active in the execution of initiatives and action plans associated with the two technologies. He is also active at the international level such as ASEAN and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) specifically in AI-related matters.
