Ajmal Mian is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at The University of Western Australia. He has received three esteemed national fellowships from the Australian Research Council, including the Future Fellowship award. As a Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, Distinguished Speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery, and former President of the Australian Pattern Recognition Society, his expertise is widely recognized. Ajmal Mian has been honoured with awards like the West Australian Early Career Scientist of the Year (2012) and the HBF Mid-Career Scientist of the Year (2022). He is the lead Chief Investigator on several AI projects from the Australian Research Council and the Australian Department of Defence. He is a Senior Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems. He has supervised 26 PhD students to completion, mentored 12 postdoctoral fellows and published around 300 scientific papers.
