It has been an amazing period working for HMRC. Locking stakeholders into the vision for how Technology can help us achieve the brilliant tax and custom systems vision as well as reducing the tax gap goals of HMRC and Central Government by making it easy for individuals and businesses to get their tax affairs right.
I’m leading on relationships with Tax Policy Professionals and Programme Delivery Leaders to enable appropriate technology integrations and solutions in a mutually trusting environment. Under my leadership we delivered Making Tax Digital Solutions to meet ministerial mandates across the year as well as numerous policy driven change solutions.
Being part of the Covid-19 responses at a time of national need – I lead on the Job Retention Scheme and Statutory Sick Pay Solutions as well as supporting my almost 1000 person team, transition to working from home in a matter of weeks, whilst motivating them to deliver key outcomes on tight timelines, especially while working from kitchens, bedrooms and Livingroom’s during lockdown.
I’m also leading on the Customs, Borders and Internal technology area which due to EU Transition and an aged technology architecture plus the ever-shifting EU negotiations asks, created a most volatile delivery environment with many changing requirements, yet we stood up technology 3 times for the risk of No Deal Exits and it is now well on track technology wise for the UK’s final departure from Europe in 2021.
