Boris joined the Bureau in August 2011 having spent almost 20 years as a marine scientist in the UK leading a team devoted to coastal and climate-related research as well as the development of observational platforms. Since then, he has played a leading role in the development of key strategic initiatives focussed on future-proofing the Bureau’s observational networks. These initiatives ensure that trusted, reliable and responsive weather, water, climate and ocean services are delivered for Australia all day every day. Boris became the Bureau’s Chief Data Officer and General Manager of the Data Program in April 2020 and oversees the rollout of an enterprise-wide data strategy and much more. Boris also serves on a number of national and international expert panels.
