Dr Rachel Swift career has focused on health care and strategy to improve patient outcomes. Rachel is General Manager Strategy Innovation and Ventures at HCF, Australia’s largest not for profit private health insurer. In this Role Rachel is leading the charge to improve innovation in the health insurance sector. Rachel was previously, a Partner at The Boston Consulting Group.
Rachel is a public health expert in communicable diseases and was strategic adviser to the Special Representative of the Secretary General for the UN Mission for Ebola working in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Rachel’s global health experience also includes advising the World Health Assembly on health systems strengthening, vaccine preventable disease eradication and maternal and childhood nutrition. She designed a new program to combat malnutrition on secondment to the Clinton Health Access Initiative, which was launched by Presidents’ Clinton and Kagame in Rwanda program in 2013. In Australia, Rachel has worked with Indigenous communities to build economic development opportunities.
Rachel holds Board positions in medical innovation, health education and on an ASX listed investment bank. She has held teaching appointments at Oxford & Adelaide Universities, as well as Magdalen College School. Dr Swift is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Public Health and The Australasian College of Health Systems Management and a published medical researcher, with a doctorate in Clinical Medicine from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and bachelor’s degrees in molecular biology, Arts and Honours Biochemistry.
