Former Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation and Cities Angus Taylor has been appointed Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security, following an end of year cabinet reshuffle. 

As Assistant Minister for Cities and Digital Transformation, Taylor oversaw substantial changes to the management of IT across government, including the transfer of ICT functions from the Department of Finance to the newly created Digital Transformation Agency.

Justice Minister Michael Keenan will assume Taylor’s previous role as Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation and Cities, which currently oversees the Commonwealth’s digital transformation agenda.

According to a statement by Prime Minister Turnbull, Keenan will take on “a central role in ensuring all Australians get the services they expect when dealing with the Government, particularly as more and more services shift online.”

As Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security, Taylor will absorb some of Keenan’s previous responsibilities, in addition to those of former Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security, Dan Tehan.
