Biography

Dr. Tas Memon is an AI specialist with over 14 years of experience in intelligent systems design and development. She has led development teams on cognitive and geospatial intelligence systems for government and industry. She specialised in “Bias in AI” during her PhD, and since has been an avid advocate of ethical AI and AI governance.
Tas is also a public speaker with several keynotes and plenary talks at prestigious national and international venues, as well as a TEDx talk in which she talks about her approach to mitigating bias in AI systems.
Currently, she serves as the Tech Research Lead at the Department of Home Affairs, supporting strategic technology investment decision making.
