Nicole Buisson is Chief Customer Officer at Open. Nicole is responsible for communications, partnerships, ecosystem development and driving regulatory change to provide customers with seamless access to great insurance products.
Founded in 2016, Open is a global, AI-powered platform that issues and manages insurance products on behalf of underwriters, making insurance that’s less costly and more reliable for consumers. Open’s technology has reinvented general insurance; powering instant claims settlements for car, home and travel customers. It harnesses data to offer personalised products including usage-based pricing, provides opportunities for brokers and brands and delivers a truly differentiated and fully embedded customer experience.
Nicole’s background combines a mix of high growth Tech leadership, corporate innovation and investment management working across venture capital and private equity industries. She was formerly Small Business and Platform Director at Xero, where she led the small business and app ecosystem partnership teams. Nicole also worked at 3i’s growth capital fund, focused on portfolio growth and origination. She was also E&Y’s first Venture Capital analyst in the Bay Area.
Nicole is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, and sits on small and large company boards, such as the Icehouse and Mosaic Business Solutions. She formerly sat on Ardern’s government’s Small Business Council, with responsibility for developing the access to capital stream of the New Zealand Small Business Strategy.
Having worked across Asia, Europe and the USA, Nicole subscribes to the value of diversity, the merit of alternative angles and global best practices. She holds an MBA from Columbia University and London Business School, and a BCom from Otago University.
