Over the last 20 years Stephen has held senior IT positions in the ISP, Publishing, and Finance industries. Since switching to vendorland about the same time as Facebook was launched, he has been selling security products from companies such as Cisco Systems, Infoblox and MobileIron. With strong network and application security implementation experience, he has helped large enterprise, telco, ISP and federal governments deploy secure, manageable and business relevant solutions.
At Fastly Stephen evangelises the benefits of super fast super low latency CDN, DDoS and WAF protection together with image optimisation, compute at the edge and a bunch of technologies which are changing the way the web works.
Stephen is based in Sydney, Australia, but spends most of his time online. Prior to COVID-19 his instagram and twitter accounts suggested he spends a lot of time in cafes, restaurants and in airports but more recently it’s all home made cocktails and failed sourdough. Recently searching for himself on the Internet he found seven embarrassing photos, more than 300 references to his occasionally updated blog and 25 Internet forum posts he’d rather not own up to. Stephen is a member of the Australian Information Security Association, and the IT Professionals Association of Australia.
Most people who know Stephen call him Max, a nickname he picked up in high school.
